I grew up in the Bronx. A lot of my street smarts has been passed on to my kids. So for example, when they walk out of the front door, they make sure they reach back to double-check that our front door is locked. When they're walking down the sidewalk, they move away from the street side if there's an idling car with a person sitting in it. There are a slew of things like that. And we live in the city; not the suburbs.

How is that going to keep them from being molested? Street smarts has zero to do with molestation.

I have a 7 and 9 year old boys.

It has to be very, very, very good friend where we know the parents extremely well.

My older one has been on a few--but I'm pretty selective.

My soccer team used to travel and get hosted by 'host' families and it came out years later two of my teammates were molested.

I am not big on sleep away camps either.

Yes. My 8 year old is starting to have sleepovers and (so far, at least) she doesn't have any friends where I'd say no. My 5 year old isn't ready, but if he was, I'd say yes.

Yes, if I know the parents and family very well. Around 9 DD #1 started to get invited to slumber parties and sleep-overs at friend's homes. I agree (or not) on a case by case basis.

So far only one good friend, the parents of whom I've worked with for a decade. We both have 5 year olds.

At this age there are probably two other families in this area where I'd be fine with it since we have similarly aged kids and I've known the dads since we were in college 20 years ago and known their wives since they got married.

I have 3 children and I am very selective on them staying with people overnight. They are all under 10. I am curious to know. Do you allow your child to spend the night at their friend's house?
