I was totally underwhelmed by our meal at his flagship Michael Mina. So much anticipation and then...meh (at least for the cost!).

Joel Robuchon in Vegas. It was spectacle, theatre and fantastic food.

Les Pres d'Eugenie (Michel Guerard, 3 michelin stars) in Landes. We spent the night in the attached hotel and it was truly an idyllic experience.

Starts with cocktails in the bar area while the sommelier brings over the menu to discuss your food and beverage choices. Intimate and beautiful dining room where we indulged in a tasting menu. I can still remember a truly sublime moment of food ecstasy when I tasted his 'ile flottante truffee' and staring in amazement as the waiter shaved heaps of fresh truffles on my dish. Everything we had was perfection. The cheese course, brought around on a trolley to make your selections, was also a highlight. The cheese steward had a great knowledge of these beautiful local cheeses, some of which MG ages in house.

This was five years ago, but still very vivid in my memory. Unfortunately the price of dinner is as well -- I believe it was around 600 euro for two...and the exchange rate was not nearly so favorable back then.

Amazing food, wine pairing and a little tiny bench for my purse. Amazing.

The French Laundry. Stunning location, amazing food, thoughtful wine pairings, and the best service ever.

There was also such a welcoming atmosphere. You could walk around the gardens and sit and relax as long as you like.

Of course, it was also, by far, the most expensive meal of my life, but well, well worth it.

The Restaurant at Las Ventanas. Live mariachi band, you can hear the waves, and fabulous food and wine.

Komi. The food is amazing but the service is even more amazing.
