We have two kids at SN schools and a 210k income and we get some financial aid at one that offers it, but only enough to make it comparable to what we would be paying if we didn't need a SN school. Between the two kids, with financial aid, it is over 50k not including other medical expenses and summer care that is needed. It's not easy. No clue how everyone pulls it off. After that, bills and mortgage, we we lucky to save anything at all.

I'm a single mom and DC will be at auburn this fall. I make 85k. No aid.

That is what I thought. We're planning to wait another year until DC2 is out of pre-K and hopefully medical expenses go down.

I had my dc at a different school (but similar). There was very very limited FA bc as the pp's said, these types of schools don't have big endowments. I have friends who made much less than $210,000 who did not qualify for aid. I would think (and I'm just guessing) that the people who would get the aid would be real hardship cases (and I don't think that $210 would qualify and I'm not interested in how much everything costs in the area, etc.). As I said, I have no idea how much aid the schools have but I highly doubt that they would give it to Op (no offense) when there are other families who scrimp and save to pay tuition.

I think they will tell you to cash flow it out of your current income. It is possible, but not fun.

$210,000 is in top 2 percent.

Sorry, friend. I think FCPS does a few private placements at Oakwood--any chance of getting it via the school system? Auburn doesn't take any funded kids.

Auburn is almost $40k and Oakwood is about $32k.

With a HHI of $210k and no assets other than some equity in our home and retirement savings (in a retirement fund), is there any hope of getting financial aid at a school like Oakwood or Auburn?
