It's for supporting the DD and helping her understand her dad.

I second calling NAMI. He is severely depressed. He needs to be properly medicated before he can work.

My father (60) seems to have given up on life. He was fired over 3 years ago for not showing up to work and lost his home in foreclosure. He also lost his car and had to get rid of over 85% of his belongings. He did nothing to get a job then and is still almost a year later not doing anything. He showers maybe once a month and will wear the same clothes for weeks, I mean I counted 17 days last time before he changed.
He won't take his medication, he won't apply anywhere for work, he won't move off of the couch. He splits his time between my house and his girlfriends house. And when one of us starts telling him he needs to work, he goes to the others, and keeps switching back and forth. I told him he can live here but he needs to be working. That was months ago and he still has made no effort to get a job. He boroes his gfs car and she is even getting sick of that now. I have drained my finances trying to cover his bills and mine and can no longer to do. I also can't kick my father out onto the streets. He doesn't care. At this point, I really wouldn't be surprised if he were suicidal. He would never talk to anyone professionally but I just wondered if anyone else knew how to deal with parents depression.
My mother actually committed suicide when I was 21. She was always depressed and exhibited a lot of the same problems. I think that's why I coddle my father. But its starting to be at my expense now. Not sure what to do anymore.
