I like Laura Dave's books. I also recently finished the Life and Death of Sophie Stark which was quite compelling.

I know you said "light," but I can't resist giving a shout out to Chris Cleave's "Gold." Don't be fooled by the cover, or the references to elite athletics, or anything else -- when you have time to appreciate gorgeous language, an immense plot that's more compelling than any I've read in a while, and when you're ready for Kleenex (or at least I was) -- grab this. I can't wait to re-read it.

As for light, I find Jennifer Weiner to be so (occasionally -- some are much heavier than others) and I have always loved Susan Isaacs, anything she crafts.

Enjoy!

I don't know if this qualifies as light, but I'm reading "All the Light We Cannot See" and it's an easy read and beautifully written.

Me too! Just finished it last night.

I've also read two of Liane Moriarty's other books, What Alice Forgot, and The Husbands Secret recently. I love them! They're definitely not trashy. And while the main subjects of each book are fairly heavy, they manage to be fun reads.

Also liked Primates!

Try In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume.

I would only recommend "Gone Girl" if you are okay with investing a few hours into something, then being pissed because you didn't get a good ending! When I finished reading that thick book, I threw it against my wall. Really!! I felt like I was hustled, I knew I couldn't get back those hours lost or the money I spent on that damn book. No worries, I am not doling out any spoilers...I just hated the ending.

Good news though, I just finished "The Girl on the Train" and it had a much better ending. Gillian Flynn should be jealous. Now that is what I call a good suspense novel.

Another favorite is "Orphan Train." Touching and extremely well-written.

I just finished "Bringing up Bebe" by Pamela Drucker. Even if you're not a parent, it's an engrossing (and quick!) read.

Just read primates of park ave! It's an easy entertaining read. Other suggestions:
Gone girl
Orange is the new black
ALL Chelsea handler books... I know you said not trashy, but her books are hysterical

Looking for something light but not trashy. Was going to download Primates of the Upper East Side, but thought I'd get bored. Suggestions?
