It's a case by case basis. Topics like circumcision almost always devolve to repetitive arguments in which nothing new is being said. Because the threads get so contentious, it is almost impossible to ask a simple question on the topic. If someone is upset because they wanted to post to that thread, they just need to wait a day or two because another one will come along and everyone will say exactly the same thing.
I guess, I just wonder why you bother getting involved. The exact same complaint could have been made about the recent 80+ page thread on SAHMs. The difference seems to be the presence of a person who bothered to ask.
