OP here. They have offered to issue a check, but it's for a few hundred after the deductible. We just aren't interested in the claim at all. I had no clue you couldn't cancel it. I wish I had been able to crawl on the roof and hadn't taken the roofer's word for it.

We had some damage and a leak during a storm about 3 months ago. Roofing company investigated and said it was hail damage and we should file an insurance claim. We talked to insurance who said they would send out an adjuster to look at it. 2 months went by. Finally someone came and said that there was no damage. Just wet carpet/drywall that we replaced already (I can't go months and risk mold starting to grow). We didn't want to move forward with a claim. We have never heard anything before from insurance except today they called and want the deductible. They said that we have to pay the deductible and that there's no way to no file a claim once you started. Is this true?
