Ha I was the opposite OP, went on vacation last week and forgot my glasses. Still took my contacts out every night and was blind as a bat for a week, but it worked. Agree to just bite the bullet and find an eye place. Worst case you would need to pay for an exam which is normally around $50-60.

I admit it, I would wear the wrong contact before wearing glasses.

I would call my eye doc and have them fax a prescription to someplace close.

Call his eye doctor's office. They can fax the prescription to any nearby Costco/Walmart/LensCrafters/Sears and that office will either let you buy lenses or give you trials.

How long will you be on vacation? If it's over two or three weeks, you can also just order some CLs online.

Another option is that he just wears one CL. Leave the other one out.

I've worn sunglasses over eyeglasses when I've forgotten my sunglasses. If you don't look closely, you can't really tell.

If you're in a sunny place and don't own prescription sunglasses, this can be really unpleasant. I'd definitely try to find a way to get more lenses before I'd spend a week at the beach without sunglasses.

And if your prescription is just expired, it is usually pretty easy to find a Lenscrafters or other chain where you can get an eye exam, then walk out with a couple of boxes of contacts.

This is what I did. They usually have trial lenses on site.

I was able to get new lenses at a local Walmart on the spot by having my doctor fax my prescription. (Lesson learned and I now travel with a copy of it!) If he had even one original label from the missing lens, he could probably get a single replacement from an Hour Eyes/ForEyes/MyEyeDr type place with an I'm on vacation sob story.

What can be done? Dh packed two boxes of the same eye. He can wear them but it's giving him a headache. If he calls his eye doctor tomorrow (mon) will they call in a prescription somewhere? I assume nothing can be done today.
