Reagan won the Cold War. Probably the biggest contribution to humanity since the end of WWII.

Eradication of smallpox and many international inoculation campaigns saving hundreds of millions of lives.

Just the tip of the iceberg!

You are lazy PP. since you seem space-obsessed though, have you ever heard of the space shuttle program or ISS?

In what sense? U.S. government? U.S. Industry? U.S. individuals?

1. Mars Rover (you forgot that)
2. Keplar Telescope
3. Hubble Space Telescope
4. Mapping the Human Genome
5. Bionic Limbs
6. Antidepressants
7. Huge advances in non-oil/coal powered energy - solar/wind

What would I like? I would like us to make a breakthrough in space travel so we could get to the earth-like planets that are 14 light years away. I would like us to eradicate diabetes, cancers, heart disease. I would like us to eradicate poverty, homelessness, and hunger. But, until that time, I am certainly NOT going to say that we haven't done ANYTHING since 1969. That's being ignorant of recent history.

Well new horizons just reached Pluto. Hubble space telescope, tesla and other electric cars, MRI machines, first complete sequence of the human genome (come keyed with us govt funding).

Anything else?

I added a few more.

Because it was on TV?

That was what first leapt to my mind, too.

Heard of the Internet, OP? I assume you have, since you're using it. On a computer or phone, too, I imagine.

Any idea of what great accomplishments the U.S. has achieved since Neil Armstrong walked on the moon in 1969? We don't have a space program anymore. Are we mostly about health care and education?

If you believe "we don't have a space program anymore" you are clearly clueless and have not been paying attention. For starters, read up on our Mars rovers and their phenomenal success; compare that to the European Space Agencie's "Beagle" Mars lander (it probably crash landed - as did their comet lander which - through pure luck, still managed to work).

As to our many other accomplishments, again - you are clueless. Just look at treatment for AIDS since the 80s - it's frankly miraculous.
