That was how we felt. We had the service come to our home and measure. We were going to go with doors from semihandmade. Another look at the new line in situ at the store and we decided to keep looking. When our current contractor came and measured, there were several errors in the measurements provided by the ikea service.

I was also SO excited for like a year before it came out, because we had bought a house last year that we have been gutting this year. We did an ikea kitchen in 2011 and were really pleased. But I was really disappointed that the "new" kitchen was a bunch of customizable features - like drawers within drawers -- but that the kitchen itself is exactly the same as the kitchen they've been selling since 2000. Even the cabinet door fronts. I couldn't care less about drawers in drawers, and being able to do 6 drawers in a base cabinet, instead of the standard 3. Those are fun, but not going to sell someone on a kitchen.

We are still using ikea because the price is so good and my husband really likes the white gloss cabs (we used them in 2011 too). I like them too, but was hoping for something a big newer and interesting. We are going to customize with some walnut front cab doors on our island from semihandmade.

PP here. Never mind! I looked at the brochure - looks like planning clearly means when they come out to your home and measure.

Anyone know when "help" in the Ikea department rises to the level of "planning"? We're about to order a kitchen through ikea, all designed on the online planner by me. Everything is in great shape and ready to be ordered. But I ordered an Ikea kitchen 3 years ago, and know from that experience that it was really helpful to sit down in the store with an employee and go through the whole order to confirm that I'd appropriately sleected all the right accessories, cover pieces, deco strips, drawer inserts, etc. So not design work, but final checkout confirmation stuff. It took around 20 minutes. I'd hate to have to pay for kitchen planning for that level of assistance.

Yup. A 12 second check on their website confirms this, OP.
