I HATE the national chains. Horrible high pressure sales and "magically" their price goes down the longer you hold out.

Get a fair price the first time and work with a company that doesn't need to pressure you. I used nova installations out of chantilly. It was 2011, but they did a slider and 17 windows (two where they created windows where there was none) all for 13k.

We have used Renewal by Anderson and Pella. So far we have been happiest with the Renewal by Anderson windows in terms of quality. Our basement windows were their cheapest style and averaged $250-300 per window - that was 6-12 (we replaced in stages due to construction) years ago so assume the prices have increased. Our upstairs windows we went with their higher end model - a large picture window was $2500-3,000 and the remaining double hung windows were around $800 per window. The reason we didn't like the Pella window has been it has never (purchased and installed through Home Depot) able to open - it was installed with issues that required several trips from the approved person from Home Depot - and it swells during the summer and yet still can't be opened during the winter. At one time Thompson Creek didn't do replacements for older homes so we never considered them when we first started on the replacement process. I'm assuming they do now.

We need to replace our patio doors and would like to replace windows throughout our house. It is a 1400 sq. ft. rambler so only has 9 windows total. We'd like to do this cost-effectively because we plan to sell our home in 1-3 years. There are lots of sale and 0% financing offers in the Post lately - Renewal by Anderson, Pella, Thompson Creek. Any suggestions of the best company to go with and ball park ideas about how much this will cost?
