How about this? A bluetooth printer that prints polaroid pictures off your phone, tablet, computer, or camera. My daughter loves hers.

Well if she is a tech geek, these two items are cool.

Or a little cube action camera

I have a non-shopper no make-up girl. She is more sports than theater but here are some ideas....

How about some good card games. My 14yr old plays so many with us and friends. Word Round, Dutch Blitz, Phase 10, Wizard etc....

A new phone case (theater related)

A mom/daughter trip to NYC. I took my then 13yr old last March and we saw Wicked and Aladdin

New sneakers

New locker gear

The Testing trilogy (my daughter loved it)

Old DVD series to watch together (increases bonding time!) Wonder Years, Lost, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc...

iTunes gift card

Wireless headphones

I have the same problem for DD who will also be 14 soon and has the same interests! Does your DD want a new friend?

I recently got a Jawbone for my birthday and she has expressed interest in one.

I am also considering a (inexpensive) laptop for her to take to school (many kids at her school have them).

OP here -- thank you for the fabulous ideas!

We already have tickets for Angelika's viewing of Hamlet (yes, she's big into Benedict Cumberbatch) but I forgot about Ian McKellan (whom she adored as Gandalf). I think a movie date plus a bag with UK-themed items (socks, a shirt, maybe some earrings) would be great. I never knew about the Playbill Store (love that!) and I like the Alex and Ani bracelets. I'm now on the search for Union Jack Chuck Taylors.

Thank you again!

Alex and Ani bracelets are VERY popular with girls this age. There are so many different options and price ranges. The cheapest bracelets are $28 I believe. They come in gold and silver with many different types of charms. Many girls wear a few at a time. You could get one with her first initial. I'm sure they have one with some type of theater related charm as well. Locally, I know you can buy them at Nordstrom and a jewelry store in Congressional Shopping Center on Rockville Pike (Montgomery County...the shopping center with "Buy Buy Baby" and "The Container Store.") Of course, there are many possibilities on-line as well.

I like a lot of the ideas above. Also, since she loves theater, look on Playbill's website for theater-related gifts http://www.playbillstore.com/ . If she likes to sings songs from shows, and can read music, you could get her the songbook for one of her favorite shows. Etsy also has a lot of theater-related gifts - if you put in the name of a show she likes, you might find a lot of gifts there (if she likes Les Miserables, for example, there's everything from jewelry with Les Miz logos and quotes, to handmade dolls of the characters, to clothing with lyrics from the show).

My DD turned 14 this spring. Presents from various family members included:

1) Money towards a new computer for high school
2) T-shirts with ironic/funny statements
3) A trip to NYC with grandma to go to the theater and museums
4) Little gag gifts like a bag of gummy bears, a favorite brand of popcorn
5) Decorations for her room (posters/wall art)
6) Books

These are great ideas. For t-shirts, I like:

I almost always give a cool bag to girls this age. I gave my niece a nice, "grown up" back pack when she graduated from middle school. She loved it!

my DD (16 next month) is similar - I agree on doing something together - it's a good age for that - have you both seen the new Sherlock movie - Ian McKellan not Benedict Cumberbatch, but still. Also, Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet at the Angelika in live stream eithe NT or Globe (can't remember). Get her some British flag socks, a funny tardis tshirt and try her on the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy series.

Anyone have birthday gift ideas for a 14-yo girl?

(She tells me she does not know what she wants for her birthday.)

She's a theatre girl and she's big into Sherlock, Dr. Who, British television. She's also a technology geek. She despises shopping for clothes.

Any ideas welcome!
