I do think it's cool but it's just odd to have a patio essentially built around it. My kids will love it I just wish I could find a way to make it look cool and part of the landscaping and less like a giant rock on the patio.


Google Japanes rock gardens. You might get some ideas from there.

Probably $2k to remove since it would require an excavator (not just a bobcat) due to size/weight. The excavator delivery/rental alone would run $500-1k.. then they'd need a sizeable truck to haul it out. Can you even get an excavator in there without tearing up your lawn in the process?

Rocks are expensive and hard to find! I would keep it. My parents paid a guy working on the house next door to theirs $50 to use his back hoe and move it into their yard (it was construction waste).

I would keep your rock if I were you!

I'd probably make a small planting bed around it, maybe with a few slates interspersed for access to the rock. It will probably be super difficult to move (may require some heavy equipment in the yard) so play it up and make it a feature.

Pretty sure it's in there but I'm not sure - didn't think to look, just assumed it was in the ground.

Just bought a house and there is a big (4-5 feet wide?) rock on the brick patio - previous owners did some circular brick work around it almost like it was a fire pit. I'd love to get rid of it but think that will probably be pricey. Any ideas for what to do with it? Any creative ideas?
