No, there is no rule against it. But, what often happens is that someone starts a thread asking some sort of question, gets answers, and the thread dies. Years later, it gets resurrected, often by a spambot or a very unaware poster. Then, other posters come along trying to answer OP's question. Of course, OP is likely long gone or at least no longer in need of an answer. What is worse is when the poster who don't know it is an old thread start flaming the OP.

It can be helpful sometimes, actually, to have a zombie thread resurrected. For those of us who missed it the first time round.

Maybe they could be locked after a year.

There's a sudden increase in the bumping of year+ old threads in the relationship forum. Is it the same person?

Have you ever thought about a rule against bumping ancient threads? Often new posters don't realize they are replying to an old thread. Not sure if this is an actual problem; maybe it annoys only me.
