Since all the "transferrable" ones are or will likely be freeze-quality, I just chose 1 of the 2 that is ready to go.

OP with an update. An easy choice. 2 ready to freeze, 3 almost ready to freeze. 3 still growing but poorly. So I didn't run into that situation after all. Whew!

How many embryos are you planning to transfer? I would transfer the best one or two.

The thing is, at transfer they are looking at your embryos at THAT particular moment. You may not have any that look freezer quality at THAT moment, so try not to get ahead of yourself. I would transfer whichever embryo they recommend you transfer. I do think your plan is crazy--this is your first cycle and you have insurance coverage...transfer the best and hope it results in pregnancy.

I would transfer.
The criteria for freezing are very stringent as they want to make sure the embryo will survive a thaw. However the embryo might actually do okay in the uterus.
Each cycle is different, so I would use whatever you can.

I wouldn't. There is a reason why they are not freeze quality. Perhaps less likely to make it?

Yes.

I would think it would depend on how many freezable blasts you get.

OP again. Thanks. When I asked my RE this the other day, he asked why I wouldn't just transfer the best. So I'm not sure if I'm being logical!

That makes sense. Good luck!

OP here. If I transfer an unfreezable, I will likely transfer 2. If I transfer a freeze-quality blast, I'll only do 1.

That's what I would do. If you have freezable ones, great. But try with all the ones you have. Just because an embryo isn't at the freeze level doesn't mean you shouldn't transfer it. Would you transfer multiple embryos tomorrow if that's an option?

Preparing for a 5 day transfer (tomorrow). At Day 3, I still had a lot of embryos. Actually, I lost none from Day 1 to Day 3. I would expect to lose some by Day 5. Assuming some are freeze quality and others are not, but still deemed transferable, should I even consider transferring the "unfreezable" ones? Is it crazy to want to transfer those first, then move on to the frozen batch? If it is pointless, I won't bother. My insurance covers the cycles, so paying for extra transfers is not a concern. What would you do?
