I have an appointment for myself with EB nutrition in Rockville. Can't speak about it yet since I haven't gone yet but she gets good reviews.

OP here again. Tried a few things but have come to the conclusion that I really need someone closer to home because it is more of a process and needs regular attention, like most things. So, does anyone have a registered diet professional or nutritionist to recommend in the Bethesda area? Could also be a regular therapist that knows food issues.... TIA

Which would consider look for "sensitivities" our only look for scientific and testable?
I am looking to get a sense for nuanced reactivities to food. Who does that registered dietician or licensed nutritionist?

A dietician is a great start. You will have to help them by getting rid of the unhealthy foods and stocking the healthy. This will be a family effort.

What two things? A nutritionist and a registered dietitian? (or registered dietitian nutritionist, as some of them call themselves)?

A "nutritionist" can be anyone and everyone who has taken an internet course or two, read an article or likes to talk about food. They typically have zero training in science and the real health issues involved in nutrition. The one exception may be in the District of Columbia, where there are LICENSED nutritionists (key word being licensed), who have the same training as RDs but have not completed a medical internship.

An RD is a true health care professional.

There is all the difference in the world.

You don't say where you're located, but try Daisy Miller:

I met her once socially and we discussed her work and some issue that my children have with food; I was really impressed by her.

+1
Registered dieticians have far more training/education.

I am looking for a nutritionist for my 13 year old son who wants to lose weight (his idea) and eat healthier. I would like to find someone who does not require or prescribe vitamins, since I think he can and should be able to eat a healthy variety of foods. TIA!
