I follow them - one of the radio stations I listen to gives updates, I think it's on KLOVE. Bless that family's heart! I think we could all take a lesson from their unconditional love and positive attitude in the midst of trials. I think it would be great if you contacted Stacy! I'm sure she'd love the encouragement and to know that her story is blessing others. Thanks for sharing!

They definitely didn't sue. They are still in contact with the daycare and don't blame anyone there.

I love their giving spirits and how much they do to help others. I'm not sure I could do that. She manages to channel her anger and sadness in a way that's really remarkable.

OP here, I did exactly the same thing! I chastised myself later because if not a tree limb, then a flag pole, or a ... the list could go on. A pp got it right, life can turn on a dime, even if we do everything "right". Glad to hear there are other followers that relate as much as I do!

It truly was a freak accident- winds associated with Hurricane Sandy brought the limb down. Not your normal tree branch falling situation.

I have been following from the beginning too. I have also wondered if he would still really be into Cars as much as he was right before the accident. I guess they have bigger things to worry about. That family is so strong.

Yes, I have been following for years. She is truly an inspiration - they all are. Reading her posts helps me to keep my very very blessed life in perspective.

I have also had my eyes opened up to the daily life of a Jehovah's Witness family. She is the first that I have encountered beyond the missionaries at my front door.

I've been following them since Tripp was in the hospital with the horrible infection. I love Stacy's posts. She helps me keep things in perspective, see things positively even when it feels like everything is falling down around me, and be grateful. She's just so relatable.

I remember when this happened, but haven't been following. Overall, with all the death and devastation we hear about in the news, and a pretty big accident my toddler had that we were just really lucky ended up ok, I am struggling to keep anxiety at bay. How are we supposed to get through the uncertainties of life with our kids? Ugh.

I don't follow them but just came across them and got into reading their story a few days ago.

He was hit by a branch that fell from a tree. Total freak accident, it was awful.

It really reminded me how life can turn on a dime even when you do everything right.

**First, for those that don't know who they are, Tripp Halstead is an about 5 year old little boy who, after a freak accident at daycare about 3 years ago, is paralyzed and brain damaged. His family is very communicative of their daily struggles in raising and caring for Tripp.

Anyone here follow their family on facebook? I started following their story about 2 years ago, probably a year after the accident happened. I have a little boy about Tripp's age, and with every one of Stacy's posts, I imagine my family in their situation. I'm pretty sure I'd never be able to be as active and positive as they are. Stacy acknowledges she cries every day, but still they amaze me every single day with their positive outlook and lack of complaining. That little boy's smiles break my heart and I always wonder how much he'll recover and what their lives will be 5, 10, 20 years from now.

When I started following them, my little boy loved Lightening McQueen (from Cars) too. Since that time, he's gone through several more phases, Monsters, Minions, TMNT, etc. and I always wonder if Tripp is "over" Cars too, but doesn't have a way to communicate that to his family. Sometimes I want to message that to Stacy, but I wonder if that would be too rude and presumptuous.

Anyway, as I sat here this morning, feeling moody and sorry for myself, I saw an update from Stacy that reminded me how I have nothing to complain about, because compared to Tripp, my son is in perfect mental and physical health. Then I clicked on the DCUM thread about the mom having a hard time after witnessing a drowning, and the mean responses about how it wasn't her kid, so why take it so personally. It made me wonder if anyone here is as touched by the Halstead family as I am.
