We are thinking of having this done to repair a little bit of water damage. I think it could work well. The flooring company says it should be an easy fix.

"pop" out the damage planks means putting a chisel to work and hacking the damaged plank out. Since it is tongue and grove, the tongue of the new plank will have to be ripped off so the new plank and slide into the spot vacated by damaged plank. It will be glued down.

OP here. Yes, I was wondering if it is truly "easy" to pop out the damaged planks. There are certainly youtube videos that seem to make it so. Even with the interlocking (tongue-and-groove) planks. Of course, I would not do this on my own... I would hire a flooring company. Anyone on here have experience doing this?

I believe with the interlocking planks you have to replace the whole floor if you want to remove one. Best way to fix a scratch is to shave down the floor and resurface. If it's just one scratch, you should just chill out, its NBD.

We're getting the same sort of engineered planks put in our basement, and our contractor said that's exactly why you want to have extra planks in storage after the job is done. If there's a scratch or gouge, just pop out the old and put in new ones.

It is really deep scratch. Floors are relatively new, done about 2 months ago.

What is deep scratch? I would try to touch it up first, too much hassle to replace it and you want to save those extra planks for something major like water damage.

We just got a deep scratch on two planks of our engineered hardwood floor. I have several planks leftover from the installation. Would a flooring company be able to take out those two planks and replace them so that they are level and connected well? Or will the repair seem a bit off? Just wondering if this is usually done, or if I should just learn to live with the scratch. It is a glued-down grooved type of floor.
