FIL was doing regular chelation treatments to clear the metals out of his system. He stopped when the quack who was providing the treatments dropped dead.

My cousin has Wilson's disease, a rare hereditary disorder that makes copper accumulate in your body, leading to severe neurological impairment in early adulthood. If caught early enough, symptoms can be reversed into a manageable lifestyle. My cousin was at one point not able to walk or talk, right when she entered college, at a critical point in her education. She lost years of her life, and incomplete recovery is slow.
So other people who blather on about imaginary diseases don't know how good they've got it. Really.

The problem is in her head and unless she's asking for a therapist recommendation, don't bother recommending anything to her. It will go on deaf ears.
(My SIL went through the same process of removing the metals. This was a few years ago. A sucker is born every minute.)

For the last several years my sister attributes every problem, psychological or otherwise to metal poisoning and/or deficiency. She has spent thousands of dollars on removing amalgams as well as on various doctors and pills to remove Mercury from her system. While taking these pills she is miserable and feels sick. It is an endless cycle of complaining about how she feels that has not let up despite her efforts. She also diagnoses her boyfriend and others as having similar problems. I want to be supportive but I find the whole metal thing ridiculous. She told me today that she and her boyfriend both have copper deficiency and that is why they are attracted to each other. I would laugh if I didn't feel so sad for her. Am I off base? If so, what recommendations can I give her?
