I'm just jealous he can afford a place in Van Ness as a blogger. I wonder how much PoPville pulls in...

This isn't big or scandalous news. He's a good guy. He started the blog a long time ago when he was younger and his life was different. He has a family now, and let's be honest, he's been talking about other, less-edgy, neighborhoods for a while now so you have to have seen this coming. I barely know him, but even I've talked to him about schools - it's impossible not to be concerned when you're a parent.

I also agree it sounds like the Hearst zone rather than Murch. (Which is much less of a sell out if you ask me.)

NW schools won't be able to. The comment about Murch is a case in point. School is huge now. They are stretching the capacity of the lot to build a school to fit all of the kids that are there.

He was zoned out of Powell and to what school instead? I think it's too bad he didn't give it a go at least for PK3.

Assume he is now IB for Murch or Hearst.

This kinda caught me by surprise, I figured he'd at least give the lottery a go. But he's probably making a killing on his house, allowing his family to make a comfortable move and not deal with the uncertainty.

Sounds more like Hearst than Murch. Either way it is a good move. - both solid schools.

So he moved IB for Murch. Now Murch will have 787 students instead of 786 next year.

He was rezoned out of Powell --which has potential.

He has been a huge plus for Petworth. No hard feelings. Wishing him the best of luck with the move.

Except for the ones that have test scores that are rising and enrollment too. But other than your facts, that's some interesting stuff.

There always have been people who couldn't deal with the the stark differences that they have to face in Petworth when their kids hit school age. This guy is just one more in a long stream. Really, nothing new.

Does that mean it could be a good time to buy in Petworth? Less desirable when PoP calls it quits?
