Literary magazine if she likes writing

No need for snark. I'm just trying to get some ideas to share with my daughter. She will probably find a club or activities that interest her, but if DCUM had some interesting ideas I thought I'd share them with her. I keep reading about kids with "great ECS" and I'm wondering what types of activities these are. Sports? School newspaper? Yearbook?
The only reason I said top tier college is because she has a 4.0, although I realize that these days straight As and good scores don't necessarily get you into a top ranked school. That's partly why I'm trying to help her find some interesting ECs. She loves kids, babysits a lot and works in her schools childcare center.

This is harsh, but I agree. To get into a top tier school you should be driven. Not driven by your mother, you know?? Your kid needs to look at a list of what's available at her school and pick stuff that interests her. Or, use what exists as springboards to create extras that interest her. My son didn't want to be in band, but he's a drummer and plays the piano. He did the music for the school plays for four years plus he did student gov't. My DD started a peer mediation/resolution program at her school.

Really not trying to be snarky but why is this your issue and not your kid's? I'm just surprised that a parent would be this involved. Maybe it's because my parents had no idea what extracurriculars I was involved in.

This was decades ago, but I thought I wanted to be a teacher, maybe special ed. I was applying to college stating that interest. I took some sign language classes at Gallaudet. It really impressed the admissions people from outside the area.

Who are her people?

I would be much more concerned about the here-and-now.
She should be hanging out with friends at school. What do they do? sports? theatre? write for the paper?

EC's for college are nice, but for a lot of schools, score & grades will do. Again, you want her to branch-out now to be happy now.

Apply to schools in canada and Uk.

They don't care about BS EC's.

What are some examples of "great ECs." Not along the lines of starting a nonprofit, but what activities could my daughter get involved in so she has decent ECs. She isn't really into anything right now. She is more a writer/liberal arts person although she does fine in math and science. She loves babies/kids.
