The listserve always has a variety of opportunities for parents to be involved. Some require at-school time and others none.
Ditto comments that doing activities connected to your child's interests makes sense.

I agree, the friends I've made at BCC have all been through volunteering specific to my kid's activities.

Work on one of the fund-raising projects. The BCC Booksale is in the spring but planning, book sorting, etc. start months in advance - fun project & great group.

Do you have neighbors with high schoolers?

Contact the PTA President and ask what volunteering opportunities they have. You could be a board member and have a "mission", or just be on their list for odd jobs to do during the school year.

How do you get active besides going to PTA meetings?

We're new at BCC and I'd like to get to know some parents and maybe volunteer a little at the school. I know parents are a lot less involved at the high school level but I'd love to hear from some BCC parents about what they would suggest a new parent could do to feel more part of the BCC community.
