I am 50. My Friends range from 30-65. If you like/love the man, things will change. Today, there is awkwardness with the friends GF's (21 to 28 is huge in maturity), but 1) they will not be with those girls for ever, and 25-31 is not huge.

Really, OP?

I married at 23, a man 18 years older. I've never had a problem socializing with his brothers, SILs, friends, who are all within 10 years of his age. He has never had a problem socializing with my friends, whose ages span decades. My best friend is 15 years older than I am, actually.

Please mature and broaden your horizons, OP. You sound very narrow-minded.

Am I the only one who finds the idea of this nubile young 23 year old fucking a man nearly twice her age to be extremely hot?

Yep, you are the only one.

What are you doing to socialize? If hanging with his friends means going to the bars and getting drunk, I can see if you are over that stage of life. But apart from that it is the usual things you talk about with people you may not have everything in common, things like sports, current TV shows, vacations, hobbies pets, where you are from etc.

I find once everyone is out of school age stops mattering. I'm 38 and friends with two women in their early 50's. I'm also friends with a couple of people in their late 20's, and a bunch in the 35-45 category.

I met DH when I was 26 and he was a few months shy of 25.... So now I am 5-10 years older than many of the wives.

I am fitter, olive skinned and the most athletic wife so it's not really a self-esteem problem---the women are all very fun.

And I'm 45 now--so the wives are late 30s. It's less of an issue now.

Was it an issue when you were younger?

You are going to laugh at this post when you are 50, OP.

Two years is not much of an age gap. It sounds like the issue is that your husband just has immature friends right now. In a couple of years, his friends will hopefully have grown up a little bit and be more settled so the age gap shouldn't be as noticeable.

Do you have friends who are at a similar life stage? Can you hang out more with them?

Can you try to occasionally structure the activities you did with your husband's friends to be more mature, like having a dinner party? Or maybe something that's more of an activity, like something outdoorsy, so you'll have the shared experience to talk about?

So how does everyone navigate friend groups as a couple with an age gap. For example, my dh is 26 and I am 28. His friends are 24-26 and their girlfriends are 21-23. I'm the oldest woman in the group and as the whole. It kind of makes me feel awkward when trying to hang with his friends and their much younger girlfriends. Does anyone else have a similar problem? How do you deal?
