Can you carve out a nook. We have a desk pushed behind our couch and an ikea expedite behind it. The baskets in the expedit make it easy to hide toys and organize paper/office supplies. We also have a two drawer file cabinet under the desk.

We just moved our office (now a desk) to the family room/basement for the same reason. We have a locked file cabinet and shelf for household stuff in the corner by the desk.

We are getting a bookcase/filing cabinet unit built. It is 4-5 shelves on the top part and two side by side pull out drawers to file stuff.

thanks. Any other ideas. I need to keep some things hard copy, like birth certificates, social security cards, immunization records, etc.

I'd get a scanner and store them electronically. I'd make two back ups.

We have a 3bd house, that is now filled with two kids. We moved the computer to the playroom, but we have no dedicated office space. Where do folks in this situation store receipts, tax returns, etc. we have paper everywhere and our system for filing has completely broken down. Thanks!
