Carnegie Museum for sure. In another day, park at Station Square. Ride the incline to the top of Mt Washington. Do a river cruise on the gateway clipper!

A swimsuit? That's a bit overboard. Just bring a regular change of clothes in case. They give you garments to help not get too wet

Children's museum was absolutely amazing and totally worth the trip by itself. Bring a swimsuit for your child for the water play area. (My kids are 4 and 2.)

If you're in Oakland, eat at The Porch in Schenley Park. Also check out the Cathedral of Learning nearby at Pitt. If you're near the ball park, take the river walk around and be sure to make a stop at the City Place Steps.

It's an easy drive too. And impossible to really get lost imo. Although gps get a little weird sometimes

Children's Museum
Pittsburgh Zoo--they have a great aquarium/polar bear exhibit as well as a great playground, so it's not just the same old zoo as the one we have here
