OP as was stated above NIH Lact Med site (and app) is a highly well respected site for breastfeeding and medicines. It provides very comprehensive information on all meds. It clearly indicates that Plan B is safe while breastfeeding.

The pump and dump guidance is out dated when you have reliable, evidence based information to the contrary.

I don't know the answer, but just wanted to say it's an excellent question and probably good information to know in general!

I took it earlier this year. I talkedwith my pediatrician and pharmacist and they had no concerns. They warned of possible supply issues but I had none.

Call your doctor or pediatrician (or the infant risk center listed above). I personally would just pump and dump and then resume nursing a few days later, even if it's supposed to be safe.

This issue with supply is definitely something to think about, but if you end up being pregnant, you may have issues with supply and continuing nursing anyway, so I wouldn't avoid the pill just based on this alone.

I wouldn't nurse through this (no judgment trust me). I would pump and dump for 36 hours (ish). That's a big dose of hormones.

If it ends up being a supply issue, you can get a paragard IUD inserted as emergency contraception.

Yes it's safe. Also you can check mess on Lact Med, a side by NIH on safety of meds while nursing.

I assume you mean plan b? Then yes. It's just a high dose of birth control hormones. May mess with your supply a bit, but no risks to baby.

Please don't judge. I just want to know if I can take it safely while breastfeeding my infant.
