I've been thinking about having the cabinets painted white. Then the brown counters and tile wouldn't bother me. But my parents considered doing this in their kitchen and found the cost to be almost the same as replacing all the cabinets. Is that true? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.
We had high quality oak cabinets that were stained a medium shade of brown.
We had them lightly sanded and then painted in a medium dark color latex semi gloss.
The result was great but the cabinets did not look 'new'. They have a country look to them but look very fresh and updated. It was several hundred dollars since it was an easy job.
