Smoke gets in everything... Drywall, floors, cabinets. You will never completely get rid of it unless you repaint every inch and redo all the floors. It would be a deal breaker for me. We recently purchased a dresser from a neighbor... I knew she smoked and thought we could just wash it and repaint. Still stinks of smoke, will need to get rid of it.

I would think that you'd have a much bigger issue with the walls and the vents than the floors since they should be sealed. I would call a floor refinisher or a flooring company and see if they have any ideas. Normally, you would use something like a TSP solution since tar is sticky, but I don't know about hardwood floors.

Has anyone come across this? Any recommendations please?
