You can request a partial release of Lien for the amount you
Pay the contractor prior to handing over the check.

Then a final release of lien before final payment.

Sime forms they sign and notarize.

Then they can never come back after you for any additional funds.

We will have a deck built, do we need one? A neighbor advised we need two from a supplier and from a contractor. Do we wait until our check clears to get one? Do you get partial Leins when you give a deposit? We have never done work before on our house.
