Nope, not Jewish. I really like bacon, I just don't want my child eating nitrates if I can help it. She buys crappy food, like frozen hamburgers for her other grandson. Oh, and cool aide, chicken nuggets, and every processed food you could imagine. Sorry, maybe I do have food issues. Just don't want my baby to eat crap.

O.k. so she errs on the side of keeping her mouth shut and not pushing food on you. That's probably just as well, right?

Do you really want her to offer you food that you can't or don't want to eat? Count your lucky stars that she's picked up on the fact that you are picky about food and has decided to step back and let you decide what you want to eat and isn't pushing some unhealthy junk food your way.

She thinks you're too uptight.

My DH are very happy, social, and pretty friendly, I think! We are vacationing with my MIL and some of her mannerisms are so off putting. I always say "good morning" or what ever is appropriate and she just stares at me. She will serve my DH a drink or food and not even as me or her own daughter if we would like anything. I have made lunches and dinners for the group and not a thank you or anything comes out of her mouth. I will keep trying to be kind, but it is wearing on me. Also, this morning she said, to my 6 month old, "don't worry you can have bacon next year, I'll give you what ever you want when mommy is not around." I am certain she was meaning to be funny, but food is an important issue with DH and me and she knows my feelings. Her older grandson is a terrible eater and eats a ton of crap.

I know that there is nothing I can do, but it is really weird.
