Mine too! AND carpet covered toilet seat lids! Double Eww!

Same ones since we started dating back in 1991. My husband always remembers them being there. Yuck, yuck, yuck!

I'm a mix. Prefer hardwood in main living areas of house, tile in kitchen and carpets in the bedrooms.

Op again. I didn't mean carpet in the bathrooms! I meant in bedrooms, family rooms, etc. Stairs, too. Everything I'm in a house with wood stairs, it sounds like a herd of buffalo when people go up and down.

We prefer carpet in our bedrooms. Nice, soft, pretty carpet. Not the horrible hard scratchy carpet that was in all the rooms when we moved in and showed every. single. stain. The quality of the carpet makes a big difference.

I think a lot of it is the HGTV factor - "We MUST have hardwoods!" Eye roll. People are sheep.

I especially love carpet in the bedroom. Soft, cozy, comfy.

I have carpet in my bedroom and living room hardwood and tile everywhere else.

You are not the only one. I also prefer carpet much to the chagrin of my dh.

I think you need to just relax and get over it. There is no more danger to hardwood than carpet, in fact it usually wears better. Then again, when you have a choice, go for it, get the carpet. But don't make this more of a stressor than it needs to be.

Why can't you put area rugs everywhere? We have one in every single room.

The only place I need carpet is on the stairs. We have a stair runner for our elderly, small dog. Otherwise I'd have to carry him up and down stairs all day or listen to him cry.

Me too!!!!!! I'm honestly over hardwoods. We're living in a rental and it drives me nuts to have to be worrying about stupid scratches and dings. I definately prefer carpeting in the bedrooms and honestly wouldn't mind it in a living room either. I like tile in the kitchen and baths.

I love hardwoods. I also have foot problems and wear shoes in the house, but still have to have hardwoods. I like the look of good area carpets on the hardwood floor as well. Somehow, wall to wall carpet never seems clean to me.

HOWEVER, two of my neighbors prefer wall to wall carpet - one is a man in his sixties and one a woman in her thirties.

I have a pinched nerve in my foot which has made walking on hardwood and tile floors painful. I now have to wear shoes in the house, which stinks, because I love the feeling of being barefoot. I would like to get carpet in the bedrooms (I'd actually like to get carpet everywhere, but DH hates this idea). I felt this way even before the pinched nerve. Carpet to me is so much cozier than hardwood floors. Rugs on top of hardwoods don't have the softness I'm looking for (and of course don't go wall to wall, which would negate the purpose of having nice hardwood floors). Am I the only one? Everyone I know seems to hate carpet and love hardwood. I just like the softness under my feet. DH is worried about resale value of carpet in the bedrooms, but I don't care about resale.
