We moved out. Lasted three years in the Midwest and moved back. Love it. Never moving again.

Exactly, when you have the biggest employer in the US in the DC area, that says enough right there.

wal mart is in arkansas

Bigger than the federal government or the military?

I want to leave because I only like the fact that this area is close to other cool eastern cities. I'm in the MD suburbs and work in another suburb. I'm rarely in DC and wouldn't miss anything here.

grew up here. went to NY and hated it. dirty, snooty, etc. back in suburban DC and love it. granted, we are total suburbanites - don't ever go downtown.

We moved away for a business opportunity, decided against that opportunity and moved back here to purchase a business. I would love to live elsewhere but our line of work and business ownership are dictating where we live for now.

I lived in Seattle for five years and came back for a lot of reasons, but one big one is that ppl here are so passionate and well educated. I love that it's sort of standard here.

Family being here was a huge influence, as is my internationally focused job. In a lot of ways I have to live here to be happy w my career and personal life. But even outside of that i ADORE dc which is great!

Me! I ran across the country to LA for college, worked in SF and Denver, and then Chicago and then suddenly my wife and I both found amazing jobs here (she is a No-Cali). We lived in the coolest little houses! A tiny cottage in SF. A gorgeous Victorian in Denver. A beautiful American Four Square in Chicago (with pocket doors!).

I absolutely hate northern VA where I grew up and vowed to never, ever live in a 1980's colonial.

We live in a 1980's colonial. In Burke.

Let's just say, I really like my job and commute.

Did you realize that for all its faults the DMV was the best place to live. Despite the high cost of living and gridlock it was better than small town X or prefab city Y. The access to international airports and quick jaunt to Europe, the diverse worldly community, restaraunts, the East Coast corridor, great privates and publics.
