I've never heard of getting paid to write checks. This is good to know.

The AmEx 6% is if you pay an annual fee, right?
There's the no-fee one that's 3% on groceries (up to $6k) and 2% on gas, 1% on everything else.
We use that for those categories and the Citi DoubleCash for everything else (1% on purchases, 1% on payments).
Amex has a few options. We pay no fee, but we have to spend a certain amount for the 6% to kick in. And then there might be a cap.

I like my Discover card. It's the same concept as the Chase Freedom card, 5% cash back on rotating categories. This 3 months it's home improvement stores! And we just bought a house so it's great. Always seems to be convenient. Then 1% back on everything else. It adds up.
I also have an online checking account with Discover that I set up with my direct deposit and use to do all my online bill pay and it's cash back also. 10 cents for every bill paid and 10 cents for every check that goes out. This is what I have as well. I charge around $10k per month and always pay the balance. Cash back seems better than points and I like that it is 2% for everything.

another +1 for Chase Freedom. good customer service and the one or two times i have disputed a bogus charge they have been very responsive. I have had the card for 10+ years through its various iterations

I'm currently credit card shopping. What credit card do you find offers the best rewards (gift cards, money back, etc) on everyday purchases? I will be charging about $3,000 a month on the card, and I'm not interested in hotel or airline points. I should also note that I will be paying this card off in full each month, so the interest rate doesn't matter. Thanks in advance.
