To me nothing but then there's people like my husband who will NOT eat lunch food for dinner

There's a difference between "lunch" food and "dinner" food?

Is there a grill? We often do burgers/hot dogs. Tonight we have salmon to grill with corn on the cob (wrap in foil on the grill)
Rotisserie chicken, pull meat off and put in tortillas with shredded cheese, lettuce, avocado, salsa, sour cream.

Two-year-old twins poster here. After reading more of the great replies, I'm inspired to pack more interesting food for meals out. Empanadas, sesame noodles/noodle salads, leftover grilled meat and vegetable roll ups sound great. Thanks!

I think OP was just looking for some different ideas.

Empanadas (warmed in the toaster and wrapped in foil) and bean/corn salad.

Peanut noodle salad with tofu.

Roll ups with leftover grilled meat or grilled veggies and mozzarella (we grill extra on Sunday night), or burritos with leftover taco fixings.

Hummus, veggies, cut up pitas, cheese cubes.

Big bag of sugar snap peas (my go to, no prep veggie that my kids devour).

- cold sesame noodles with shredded rotisserie chicken
- tabbouleh with chicken or flank steak
- chicken salad in lettuce wraps

or my personal favorite: domino's delivered poolside

Also a grilled flank steak or grilled chicken breasts already sliced

Pasta salads are good, too.
Chips and salsa with some cheeses and olives.
Composed salad that you can put together from individual containers once you are there.
There are my go-tos for pool dinner.

This does sound delicious. How old are your children? All I can think of is my twin 2-year-olds somehow upending the oil on themselves and everything else (despite my vigilance to avoid it) and extra containers to clean for a salad that will likely be quickly deconstructed again. Think I'd probably stick to the sandwiches and easy less-mess finger food at this age.

Why are sandwiches bad for dinner?

We love going to our community pool and spending hours there. I pack sandwiches and fruit for lunches there, but I'm at a loss for what to pack when we are there over the dinner hours. What do you pack?
