Both of my grandmothers had it more than once. It is more common in older adults.
It is also horrible to get.

I know two people-- one was 28 when she had it, one was in her forties.

My DD, when she was 3.

Friend of mines boyfriend (when we were in college). My parents neighbor (elderly). It's more common in older people, presumably more people are getting vaccinated now so it's likely dropping again.

My mom. My boss. David Letterman. Well, I don't know him personally. I think it's quite common as people get older and their immune systems become weaker. I know that data analysis can be subjective but, obviously, there is some study somewhere that came up with this number. Ask a group of people over 65 years old, and I'd bet you'd see a lot of hands go up.

The shingles vaccine is an adult sized version of the chicken pox vaccine. Considering how uncomfortable my mother was, it's probably worth getting it once you reach the recommended age. (65 I think?)

Sounds exaggerated to me. I've known two people with it and am guessing I am quite a bit older than you.

I had it, DH had it.

There is a tv commercial that says 1 in 3 people will have shingles in their lifetime. To my knowledge I have never met a person who has had shingles. When I ask other people if they've ever met a person with shingles, they say no. Only one has said yes. So where are all of these people who have had shingles? One in 3 is a high percentage.
