Sorta. I grew up with 4 girl cousins(my grandmother's father's sister's grandchildren). We were close growing up but I left for college and they stayed behind. We kind of grew apart. I was never super close with any of my first cousins, we acknowledge each other, but I don't talk with them outside of family gatherings

No. They're conservative religious Muslim and constantly have to talk about why I am unmarried and a single woman living in a big city as a lawyer (gasp - the sin of it all). To them -- I should be home with my parents having no life at all until/unless I get married and ivy league educations and big careers are meaningless. Doesn't make for a pleasant time when we do have to see each other but it's really only every few yrs for a wedding. We are FB friends but don't interact so I'm not even sure why we are friends.

They don't want to get to know me or my life bc it is meaningless without a DH or babies; and then they wonder why I am so aloof.

I'm close with the ones that live in my immediate area, DC and Maryland, but not the ones who live in NJ, NY and NC.

We're not besties, but we enjoy each other when we do get together. I have 10 on my dad's side, but am an I my grandchild on my Mom's.

My husband has 2 female cousins on his Mom's side that are close to them. He has 4 on the other side that are odd and he rarely talks to. One likes me a lot and talks to me on Facebook, but she's got some mental issues. They all live in tx, though, so we don't see them often.

I don't have any cousins. My husband has a few and we literally refer to them, their spouses and kids collectively as, "The Cousins." We get together with them 2-3 times a year. We are not huge fans of them as people, of the way they parent, etc. But for the most part their kids are nice and decently behaved and my kids like playing with them. I bite my tongue a lot with them though.

I have two cousins. They are brother and sister. I am close to the female cousin. We email, confide, always see each other when we can (we live on different continents). Her bother I haven't seen for 10 years since we were at a funeral for one of our grandparents. He barely spoke to me and has not replied to a single email I have ever sent him (I probably sent only 2 or 3).

I have lots of cousins. Both of my parents came from large Catholic families. I'm connected to most of them on Facebook, that's the extent of our relationship.

My H side of the family.... the cousins are very close. It is awesome. My H is close with his cousins and 1 is like a sister. My kids are close to about 10 cousins.

My side of the family, all my cousins live far away. I am trying to foster get togethers with my kids cousins but my side of the family does not get together because it is all boys (besides me) and they tend to go to their wives for holidays.

There are 14 cousins, now that most can drive the cousins get together about 3 times a year.

Seems like most people I know are very close with cousins but I see them only at weddings and funerals. I still consider my culture to be very family oriented. Does anyone do this?
