OP here. thanks for the Carson parent who posted. There is no pressure to do any of these on my daughter. It is simply that this child likes to do and thrives and builds her confidence.

It's have a DS at Carson. None as part of the actual curriculum, but AMC 8 is free and open to all students. They have an amazing MathCounts team, but it's nearly impossible for a 7th grader to get on it. If you look at engineerIng too, there is the Technology Students Association (TSA) contest, TARC, and eCybermission, which can be engineering. Odyssey of the Mind has an engineering problem every year (balsa wood) and Carson fielded 2 teams in that problem this last year. I do not think they sent anyone to Science Olympiad, though, which is weird. I know I'm missing stuff, but there is a lot there for STEM kids.

Competitions are not part of curriculum though some schools support them.
There are two major tracks of math competitions: math counts and IMO series (AMC 8 10 12, AIME, etc).

There is also Science Olympiad, which is a terrific program when well-run, and I believe Carson may have it. It is not "part of curriculum," though; it is extracurricular and does require a lot of time outside class, to do well.

If you are focused just on math competitions, there is also Math Counts, which our middle school did. Don't know if Carson has it but I'd ask.

Look at the after school clubs on the Carson website. It's all there.

Not OP, but some kids actually want to learn and compete. It's not always the parents pushing it.
