I am an IT parent that loves Y aftercare at IT but not in love with summer camp. They had some disorganization last year that I was hoping they'd improve.

You could, but I don't think it would be any faster than taking the G8 from Shaw, if you're coming in on the green/yellow from Columbia Heights. Gallery Place is really a hassle in the morning with kids. And the walk up Lincoln Road is much more quiet and pleasant than the walk along Rhode Island.
