My kids call their grandfather's wife Grandma First Name.

By my first name. My husband's kids call my parents by their first names too.

If their dad's parents and mom's parents are still alive and involved in their lives, they might not feel comfortable calling you "grandma" or any other version of it (nana, granny, etc.) I think you are right to ask their mom what she thinks.

The kids are elementary-aged, same as my youngest kids still at home. (I had my oldest in my mid-twenties, and my youngest in my mid-forties.)

I don't do grandmotherly things, and I'd feel weird being called Grandma-Anything by a kid the same age as my youngest child. They won't call me by my first name, though I've told them they can. They're very sweet kids, brought up well, and I think they don't feel it's respectful to call an older adult by a first name.

If you're that young, then maybe Mrs. ____, with either your first name or something cute like an initial or a variation on your first name.

I'm a kid in that scenario - I think initially I called them Mr. and Mrs. Lastname, then Grandma and Grandpa Lastname and then as I was around more and got to know them better I used the same name their other grandchildren used.

In my current situation, my children call my BF's mom Mrs. Firstname. His kids will do the same for my parents. We've been together about two years and the kids are relatively young, so I expect that will evolve over time.

Hilarious. I'm 50, and my oldest child is 15. I'll let you know in 15 years

They call me and my parents by their first name. My husband has a grandchild and same, by my first name. They have parents & grandparents. Not looking to compete, only support.

Let the children decide -- it should be based on their comfort level, not automatically "Grandma/Nana First Name". Congratulations on your growing family!

They call you Nana Firstname. Or something of your own family tradition. My daughter calls her step-grandmother Waipo because that's the Chinese word for it.

"Larlo, I'm so happy that you are marrying Larla and bringing Larletta and Larleen to the family! I hope with time that they can come to consider me as another grandparent. What would you like them to call me?"

And if he says he doesn't care, then you can come up with a name.

What do they call you now? I would suggest you just keep doing the same.

How old are the children? If they are older then they can help choose. Or Grandma first name

My son is marrying someone who has young kids by her first husband. I'm kind of flummoxed as to what the kids should call me. Just my first name doesn't feel quite right. Any advice?
