Check if your work sponsors free counseling for a number of times. Many do as part of insurance program.
My DH lacks common sense and doesn't care to remember any advice (Knives away from counter edge, leaves box cutter out and open, fries eggs with skillet handle out, does iPhone at the pool with toddlers, pushes kid so high on swing she fell out), etc. No foresight, no common sense, never remembers when told. Not sure counseling would help this - I've reduced it to prima donna mentality or pure stupidity. Sigh.

The Family Center on Columbia Pike in Arlington. Near Babies R Us.

I have BC/BS and they took my insurance.

This is a common point of conflict among couples -- differences in parenting children. A good couples/marriage counselor should be able to help with this.

Individual counseling with a family therapist.

This morning DH did something very dangerous with toddler DD. We talked about it and now he's sorry, but it was a really clear example of repeated behavior where he chooses the fun thing instead of the responsible thing. We have the mean mom / fun dad dynamic, and I would like a professional to help us talk about it and change it.

What kind of counseling is this -- marriage counseling? Am I looking for a particular qualification or specialty? Any recommendations in the Vienna / Fairfax / Arlington area would be great.

Thanks!
