This speaks much more to the number of kids who were able to get into charter middle schools or Stuart-Hobson via the lottery (probably much fewer than last year), and current parents' comfort level with the feeder middle school, than it does to the quality of the ES. I don't think the number of students who stay for 5th has anything at all to do with the quality of the ES. People are not leaving their elementary schools at fifth because they don't like their elementary schools-- people who don't like their elementary schools leave much earlier than 5th!

Are you new to the school? Inbounds j guess? Teachers are excellent but fair warning that class sizes are currently huge. This will improve in about two years with renovation but just so you are not surprised that's the situation now. Next year the 1st grade classes are going to be 28-30.Clop wrote:Thank you all for the input. I'm so glad to hear good things about the school, and the teachers.
Maury had a 5th grade class of 25 this year (down from 45 the year before). Next year, there will be two full 5th grades--- at least 40 students staying for 5th grade.Clop wrote:Thank you all for the input. I'm so glad to hear good things about the school, and the teachers.
