Another rec for a drive that would suck but Sheri Present does private lessons in Bethesda. She is an OT and has been recommended a lot on this board and in my SN circles.

Haven't tried them, but Arlington definitely has adapted aquatics classes. I've called and spoken to the aquatics staff at the county about other things and found them to be very helpful on the phone.

Have you tried any of the adapted aquatics classes through parks and rec? Fairfax definitely offers them and I'm betting Arlington does, too.

It's a trek for you but Dawn Traub at Rockville Municipal Swim Center worked with my son (apraxia/dyspraxia) for many years. Progress was slow but she was really able to break it down for him and was very patient. He reached the point where he could swim the length of the pool freestyle and backstroke. His form is not perfect but we are extremely pleased.

Does your child work with an OT or PT? Some of these folks do swim lessons on wkends to make extra money. Ask your providers for ideas or referrals.

Looking for individual experienced in working with kids with dyspraxia to teach my son to swim. We have done many many private lessons to absolutely no avail. I realize that traditional methods to teach him to swim are just not going to work. He is in OT twice a week.
I'm in Arlington but willing to travel to DC or somewhere in northern Virginia
