OP here. Dehumidifier has been running for about 6 hours now. Already can tell the difference.

I'm the PP. Dumped mine THREE times within 24 hours -- it's damp out there!

Dehumidifiers don't last long. You should consider getting an warranty.

Put in a dehumidifier and see if that changes the smell. If it does, then you may have a dampness problem you may want to check out.

My basement is unfinished, but doesn't smell. I assume there's an issue if there's a smell. How about leaving doors open to ventilate it. How long ago was it finished?

It depends on where smell is coming from. It could be humidity, paint (if newly finished), bathroom drain trap... Each requires different solution.

Just moved into a new place. Basement is fully finished with tile floors. Full bath and laundry down there. Was renovated before the sale.

So, my question is, how do you manage a basement smell. It just smells different from the rest of the house. It may be that its still the paint/new construction smell and opening the windows when I am down there will help. But, just wanted to see if anyone knew any tricks.
