I hadn't considered an ablation at the same time, that's a good idea. Will have to look into that.

There are a number of TL options. Mine were burned clean out. They're gone! But you can block them, snip them, or remove them entirely. that's where a consult with your GYN becomes important, to find which options suits your particular circumstance.

Recent studies show ovarian cancer may in fact originate in the tubes, hence the potential benefit of reducing the cancer risk by removing the tubes, while leaving the ovaries so you don't force instant menopause.

DH didn't want a vasectomy and I didn't feel like I could push him to do it. his body. I didn't care at all. As for the risk of ovarian cancer, I think the benefit is minimal. I've never heard there is a benefit. If you are at increased risk the only way to really do something about it, is to have your ovaries and tubes removed.

Do have a family history of ovarian or breast cancer? Without a family history, I think many would consider the benefit minimal, unless you were maybe having a c-section and going to be open anyway. I believe you'd have to remove the tube for any oc benefit? Would that have to be a full surgery rather than laparoscopic?

I agree, really easy procedure.

I had a laparoscopic TL a few years ago. It was easy peasy. I was grogy for a day and sore the next but nothing too bad that would

Dr. Greene up at Sibley shut down my lady business and had me laughing the whole time.

I had a great experience. I had one child at 38, another at 40,...and at 42, I went scrambling for Dr. Greene because I couldn't take the chance that the hormonal drive for more yummy babies would take control.

She is lovely and quite thorough. I had an ablation as well, so no more periods. It's so nice being done. I had very little down time and remember the experience fondly.

I'm curious to see what people's experiences have been with the procedure. My DH is willing to get snipped but really doesn't want to. I'm thinking that the lower risk of ovarian cancer might be enough for me to take one for the team here. How was your surgery performed? Recovery? Complications? Permanent complications?
