He is most likely constipated. A mass of fecal matter is present in his colon and other fecal matter oozes past the mass. It is quite uncontrollable for him.

Ask your pediatrician for an x-ray. This is a much more common problem than we think.

7yo DS keeps coming home with poopy pants. Sometimes he admits an accident and other times he claims he does not wipe well or at all. When he has accidents, he often says that he didn't know he had to go. I think he's holding it for so long to avoid missing out that he doesn't give himself time, in most cases, to get to the bathroom, let alone navigate any obstacles along the way (stall wait time, someone stopping him in the hall, etc.). It is usually at school and, until this week, when we started checking, we wouldn't find out until he took a shower that night (so he's also not telling us).

This has been going on for like two weeks, but we have had a couple "waves" of this in the past. Any thoughts?
