We've lived in 2 houses with double sinks, one in which we used both and one in which we never did. What made all the difference for us was that in the house where we used both sinks there were also two medicine cabinets, one on each side, so we stored all our stuff on separate sides and used separate sinks. With just one medicine cabinet, everything was on one side and no one bothered to walk back and forth between the cabinet and the sink on the other side. Just another perspective.

+1. And it's really nice to have even if you don't get ready at the same time. You might go to bed at the same time, and then there's always weekends.

YES YES YES YES - single sinks were a huge strike against houses when we were shopping. We've made it work in past houses but it's not our preference.

Essential for a couple that work roughly the same hours. Highly recommend. Also, I think it's pretty much expected in a master bath that has the room.

We've had them in various houses, but we tend to both always use one of the sinks and the other stays completely clean. We don't really ever use the bathroom at the same time. We've laughed about what a waste of space two sinks is for us.

We're in the process of redoing our master bath and have sufficient room to replace our single vanity with a double if we want. The problem is I know we would rarely use both sinks at once. My husband and I work different hours and almost never get ready at the same time. One part of me says we should just do it if we have the room, but the other part says why spend the extra money for something you don't really need.

Would you put in a double vanity if the main purpose was for resale? We'll probably be selling at some point within the next 3-5 years. How much of a selling point is this? Do people really use them?
