When I was in college, the health center gave out condoms for free. Could you imagine getting a pack of condoms from a grandparent or older family friend? That alone would squash the mood for the next four years.

No need for quarters. Either give them money or a gift card to a store they can get stuff for their room (Container Store, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target...).

My go to is a tool set and stuff ordered from the kid's college bookstore (hoodie, travel mug, car sticker, t-shirt, etc.).

At both my kids schools it's all on their ID card. They get text messages when their laundry is done.

I've posted this before, but my go to is a gift card to the Container Store.

Nope.

Try a messenger bag. A nice everyday bag is my go-to gift. It's just as practical as your roll of quarters.

Ten years ago, my go-to HS graduation gift was a ($20) roll of quarters, because I remember needing so many quarters for vending machines, laundry, copy machines, etc. Is this still the case, or have most colleges gone the electronic route and made most things payable by swiping your ID?
