I heard myschooldc will stop managing waitlists at the end of the summer. Showing up could definitely work at some schools in September if that's the case.

No they don't. Nor do they control the kids that have recently given their notice they won't be returning in the fall and who are quietly being moved off roster this week and replaced. Again, without myschool's wait list being notified... It's fine by me in some ways to give the principals this discretion but let's not all kid each other that now myschool is in town this doesn't happen.

But myschool doesn't control a new IB kid that came after lottery.

I don't think those types of antics will work these days since myschooldc took over the waitlist. Maybe if you got Central Office involved you'd have a shot.

yes, that is what i mean. who is controlling if they use myschool or not, especially if we are NOT on the lottery list

What if they just stop working the list? Say Larla moves in November, school can place whoever they want into her slot and not go through myschool. Seen it happen. More often than is fair, more often than anyone wants to admit.

I would think just showing up at the school every couple weeks could get REALLY irritating.

No. They can only make offers through MSDC, and the software prevents them from going out of order.

You can still apply on myschooldc in the post-round 2 lottery.

Troll, but it did work a few years ago for us.

no, it won't work. maybe if you were anywhere on the waitlist and maybe if it was late September, but what you describe, no way.

Huh?

You didn't place the school you most wanted on the lottery list? Twice??

I can't imagine that a school with a waitlist would let in a student who isn't on the list just because the parent pesters them. Call and ask to be added, to the end, of the waitlist - they will do that.

WL in teens two years in row.
This year matched at a decent charter but want the DCPS school.
Did not place it on the lottery list like a dummy.

Do you think going in every week all summer would get DC a space?
