It is one of two creative and performing arts school in pg county. The other school is Benjamin Foulois. Depending on where you live within the county, you will be zoned for one or the other. If your child is interested in the arts then it is a fantastic school. It has the same curriculum as PGCPS but students are pulled out of class longer (by 30 mins) to really focus on the arts. They start off exploring all of the arts. In middle school is where they pick their major, so an emphasize on one of the arts. Great concept and it really works. The school has a family atmosphere because students travel together from kindergarten to about 8th grade, for the most part. The teachers become close to the families. Lots of performances inside and outside of the school. It is truly amazing how talented the students are when they leave the school. Just make sure that you student also devotes time outside of school to assist them in mastering their art; so time to practice their instrument, attend afterschool dance company, etc
