Our basement fridge was one my sister gave to us when she redid her kitchen. It was at least 15 years old. When it broke, we got a new one at Sears for like 300 bucks - the most basic model. It is using FAR less electricity.

OP here, thanks. Yes it is useful to have two, but I think garage is a huge issue this summer in our situation. We have a counter-depth fridge in the kitchen as well. Basement is a good option. But I am definitely clearing out the garage one and unplugging this weekend thanks to all the feedback here.

No one needs two fridges.

We don't need two by we have two and we use them quite a bit.

We also have a beverage under counter refrigerator inside.

Worry about your own miserable life and stop telling people what they need.

You are probably paying $20+ per month to run that fridge. You can't fit drinks in your main fridge? I moved the drinks out of my garage because my kids started sneaking sodas constantly.

If you have Pepco, they'll pay you for it:

We have an old, extra fridge in the garage. I think I read somewhere that old fridges are horribly inefficient. Plus, it gets pretty hot in our garage, and the freezer is mostly empty (it's a fridge for drinks). That thing is running all the time. I know I need to get rid of it, but are the drinks fridges that are super insulated to keep in places like garages, or should we just get a bev fridge for inside (somewhere)? thanks for any thoughts......
